Department for Housing

Many students of TUM do not come from Munich and therefore have to move and find a new apartment in Munich to be able to study here. Unfortunetely, housing in Munich is scarce and also very expensive. Many students don't have much money for their rent. For this problem, there is the Department for Housing, which deals with the topic Student housing in Munich!

Part of this work includes the active engagement in the Arbeitskreis Wohnen of the Student Representations of Munich. In this Arbeitskreis the AStA works together with the StuVe of LMU and HM to create better conditions for student housing. Other organisations, such as the Kreisjugendring, dormitory associations and political youth organisation are also members of the Arbeitskreis Wohnen. 

Some topics are the construction and renovation of dormitories. The AK meets the Studierendenwerk and political representatives to stand up for the issues of students.

In addition to the work of AK Wohnen, the Housing Department takes care of the concerns of students in terms of housing. It is active when new dormitories are built and students have a chance to participate.

You don't need any prior knowledge to get involved in this department. We're always looking for motivated people who want to get committed. The tasks range from the organizing events, such as demonstrations or panel discussions with AK Wohnen, up to attending meetings with the Studierendenwerk or political representatives. You also participate in meetings of the AK and the TUM Student Council. The role of the Head of the Housing Department is diverse and varied! There's always something to do to advance this important topic for students!
