Environmental Lecture Series

The Environmental Lecture Series is an interdisciplinary and public lecture series of the Environmental Department of the TUM Student Representation in Garching. It is organized by students on a voluntary basis.

Similar to the Environmental Lecture Series in the city center, which has been held since 1985, speakers have also been giving lectures on sustainability, climate protection and technical aspects of environmental protection in Garching since 2018. Every semester, there are several dates for lectures about a guiding topic that changes every semester

This offers both students and teachers of the TUM and the non-university public the opportunity to get information about current ecological topics and research results at a scientific level.

Each session consists of presentations by two speakers from research, associations, authorities, nature conservation organizations and companies. Afterwards, a discussion round is held with all participants, which is carried out in cooperation with the Center for Key Competencies and is intended to deepen and further discuss the respective topics. In some cases, the speakers themselves will also participate in this round.

The very young lecture series has become a permanent part of the teaching program in Garching and can already be recognized by many courses of study as an interdisciplinary basis for their studies.
