School-Level

Our student council committee (student council meeting) usually meets every Monday. Every student is welcome to attend our meetings, so feel free to drop by.

The Fachschaftsvollversammlung (FVV) takes place at the beginning of each semester. As the name suggests, this is a meeting of the entire student council, i.e. all students in a department. The FVV is the supreme body of a student council, so it can set the direction for the active student council (the student representatives). All students are therefore invited to get involved. In times when there is no FVV, the FVV is represented by the student council committee. Any student from any of the three faculties can come along and get involved.

When does the FVV take place?

The general student council meetings all take place at the same time, usually from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on the Wednesday in the third week of lectures, unless this falls on a public holiday. The specific date and the relevant rooms will be announced on our homepage in good time. In order to enable all students to participate, all lectures, tutorials, seminars, practicals etc. are canceled during the FVV.

What happens at the FVV?

The current student council work is presented at an FVV. It is therefore a good opportunity to find out what the student council is doing and how you can get involved. Current topics that are relevant to students at faculty or university level are also presented, e.g. new degree courses, study rooms, semester ticket. All students are invited to get involved.

The Senate consists of a total of 11 members of the Munich School of Politics and Public Policy:

  • six representatives of the professors

  • one representative of the scientific staff 

  • one representative of the non-scientific employees 

  • two representatives of the students

  • one representative of the women's representative

The members of the Senate are elected by the members of the Munich School of Politics and Public Policy. The Senate adopts the legal regulations to be issued by the Munich School of Politics and Public Policy with the exception of the Basic Rules. In accordance with the Examination Regulations issued by the Technical University of Munich, it deliberates on the range of courses offered and ensures this in cooperation with the Rector. In addition, it decides on other fundamental matters as well as on matters for which another body is not responsible.

 

The School Council represents the interests of all groups of people working at the School and decides on matters of fundamental importance to the School.

The Study Grant Commission decides on the use of study grants made available to the Munich School of Politics and Public Policy in accordance with the Bayerischen Hochschulgesetz. The funds are earmarked and serve exclusively to improve the study conditions.

The Study Grant Commission is composed as follows:

  • Katharina Neugebauer (student representative) 
  • Paula Rentzsch (student representative)

TUM-Level

Each of the currently 14 student bodies has the possibility to send representatives to the FSR. The individual student bodies have at least 2 votes depending on the number of students in the respective department. FSR meetings usually take place every 3 weeks, but special meetings can be called by student bodies. The location of the meeting changes between different locations of the TUM, usually a mixture of the largest locations Stammgelände, Garching and Weihenstephan. At these meetings, various topics are discussed that affect students university-wide, such as the accreditation of university groups, SV events or the Deutschlandstipendium. In addition, the FSR elects the departments and representatives of the Student Representation. In addition, applications for financial support or for borrowing of event equipment can be submitted to the Student Council. The meetings are open to the public, i.e. you can visit us at any time and take a look at our work. In addition, all TUM students have the right of application and speak.

To carry out its tasks, the student council elects chairpersons, speakers and representatives. These form the General Students' Committee (AStA) and usually meet every Tuesday in the AStA office. These meetings are also open to the public and you are cordially invited to attend.
