What we do
As the student council, we are the student representation of the Department Governance and the Department Sciences, Technology & Society at the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology.
Together with the student representatives in the Senate of the Hochschule für Politik, we represent over 800 students of the degree programs
- B.Sc. Political Science
- M.Sc. Politics & Technology
- M.Sc. AI in Society
- M.A. Science and Technology Studies (STS)
- M.A. Responsibility in Science, Engineering and Technology (RESET)
All students of the above-mentioned degree programs form the student council GTS. In most cases, however, the student council refers to those who are actively involved in university politics, at events and in the various departments of the student council. These departments take on more extensive tasks that occur on a regular basis, such as coordinating university policy or the student orientation days. There are also representatives for smaller or one-off tasks.
The Student Council Committee
Important topics are discussed at the student council committee. This takes place every week during the lecture period. You are welcome to attend and, as a member of the GTS student council, you also have the right to vote. In addition, the Fachschaftsvollversammlung (FVV) takes place once a semester.
Issues that affect students across TUM are dealt with in the Fachschaftenrat (FSR). The student council sends representatives from the student council to the FSR, which you can elect every summer semester in the university elections. The election also determines the student representatives on the School Council (formerly the Faculty Council) and the Senate.
